Way to go! You got this! I also love walking. I walked off so much weight in Japan, gained it all back coming here LOL. The weather is never cooperative, so I should really bust out my treadmill!

Basically, unless it’s a downpour or literally freezing, I’m trying to walk haha.

And thank you for reading! Feel free to follow along and tell me about your own health journey 😊

Right?! You guys get the canadian weather cuz you’re so close to us.

For sure! I was kinda on track with my diet and doing light workouts. Then Vegas happened, then Houston … now I’m like okay. I need to eat healthier again. Not that Houston wasn’t healthy, I just ate toooo much haha

-40c is a bit colder I think haha. But anything - is unnecessary 😂

I’m going to try. Taking a train rather than flying when I can will help. Trains are a lot more lenient when it comes to bringing stuff on with you.

Ahahaha, then def don’t move here.

I love trains! It’s a bit more expensive at times and takes longer, but it’s so much fun. I also love that it’s more lenient with the stuff you pack.

I love that it takes longer and is less stressed. It’s perfect for writing time 😊😊

Yes!! I’ve only taken trains in Europe (from London to Paris and back) and in Japan. But I enjoyed it so much.

Yes, on occasion the Canada decides to sweep south. Though, we haven’t had a true blizzard in a while which makes me sad.

And honestly, vacation usually wrecks diets haha. I’m planking on doing more domestic travel next year, and a lot of prepping with snacks and what not will be paramount.

We def had a “warmer” winter this year so that might be why? Warmer meaning it didn’t get to -40C haha. Which I think is also -40F?

LOL it totally does. But for good reason hahaha. Very ambitious to prep for your travels, but good for you for doing it!

Is there simply more walking or Japan or was it because of where you lived?

More of where I live. The city where I am isn’t a walkable or transit-friendly city. Everything is built where you need a car. You could walk around your neighbourhood, but there’s nothing to look at besides cookie-cutter houses lol. Then you have the famous Canadian weather. Long, cold winters. Summers are short.

Places like Tokyo or lots in Europe, you can literally walk 5 minutes to the corner store. Things are more accessible.

I love walking cities - if I didn't have the trails... I don't know what I'd do because I am not in a walking city. I used to live in a suburb (Skaneateles) and lived in the village. I could go days without using my car. Work was 1 mile away, so I walked! You must miss it!!

Ooo like hiking trails? Or more so like parks and stuff?

I like the sound of that village! I love when a car isn’t a necessity.

Paved trails near neighborhoods with just enough woods and little lakes.

I walk so much, it truly makes me feel amazing. What are some of your favorite places to walk?

And as always, thank you for reading!

ME TOO! Mind and body! We have about 13 miles of trails just steps away from where we live, so you'll find me on the trail almost every morning. They are wooded, but with houses close enough that you feel pretty safe. Otherwise, you'll find me driving to the many lakes, gorges and trails in Central New York to hike. Where do you like to walk?

That’s awesome! There’s a lot of drivable mountain trails near here, but also where I am in DC has some excellent public parks that are absolutely wonderful. And it’s nice because around here I know no matter where I walk I won’t get lost haha. I have started to go off trails as well which had been fun!

You're adventuring!! I visited DC once many years back - I LOVED it!

Expand full comment

Absolutely! It can be a bit stuffy in terms of the people that it attracts I'll be honest haha. But it is my home having grown up in the suburbs here. It is an incredibly navigable city if you have the right motivation and don't feel the need to drive. Public transit is also excellent (when the metro isn't being dumb lol). I'm actually making it a point this summer to do more in the city. There's always something to do and explore!

The best health starts from avoiding the main stream health mafia. That means being resolute in not using drugs (of any kind), vaccines and especially mRNA poisons. Walking is always good and maybe a bit of dumbbell lifting. At 74, you gotta do what you can. Always try and get a bit of sunshine using no sunscreen and let stress slide off of you. My best advice is to never get old. That will always kill you in the end.
