Agree with this. I have silenced all apps too - just so distracting. Whatsapp groups can get terrible with constant pings - MUTE! Thanks for sharing this, I just subscribed.
Thank you for reading, and thank you for subscribing! Yes group chats in general are quite annoying haha. Thankfully most of my friends are kind of 1 v 1 with communication.
I’m hoping to also get my screen time (on my phone) more under control as well. The more we look at phones as tools rather than necessities, the more we can take back the power from tech and especially social media trying to get us addicted.
I'm old enough to remember the advent of the first hand held calculator 😯 and when I worked for IBM I helped launch the IBM PC. What's interesting to me is that the adverse personal and social consequences of these innovations has been almost entirely unintentional. But the problems are real and pushing back on them is important.
It’s going to be an uphill battle for sure, but I believe the fight back is necessary. I do think that we are at a breaking point when it comes to how we move forward on a personal and social level in general. Once social media set the standard for ads and selling data, the other apps just followed suit and now it’s just about getting you addicted as quickly as possible. I think we can push back enough to make a difference, but it’s not like technology is moving any slower. We truly need to make sure we’re the ones in control, and not the computers in our pockets.
I have a de-googled phone and only use it for texting and calling. That is enough.
I enjoy some of the modern conveniences, but I am absolutely shrinking the amount I am on my phone and when I use it.

That’s awesome!
