Great read, I think a lot of people don't subscribe to the word "evil," perhaps because it alludes to the idea of someone else being in the driver's seat. "The devil made me do it," that kind of thing. However, when I think about atrocities committed around the world, there doesn't seem to be a more fitting word than evil. I do believe that corporations keep us in line and under their influence in any number of ways, and social media is an absolute danger to anyone who can't unplug. I personally have to just put the phone down, walk away from the computer, and just recharge. Otherwise, it's hard to separate myself from the experience, and I lose who I am in the process. Definitely lots to chew on, but making us think is the point, for sure.
I appreciate you reading and your thoughtful response. Social media is terrifying. Even with my efforts to cut back by keeping notifications off of my Lock Screen and basically ignoring certain apps, I’m spending more time on it than I care to admit. But that’s also why I write my health chronicles each Sunday. It helps keep me honest about how much I am on my phone and where I am applying my screen time when I do.
People don’t like the word evil because they assume it’s people who have horns or whatever they perceive as their “demons”. But evil intent doesn’t have to be so overt. I think all 3 examples I mentioned were perfect for the kinds of subversive evil that corporations implement. I think social media, especially Twitter, is more overt now, but food corporations have been at this for a long time now. They have perfected insincere marketing and claims.
And great advice on eating the whole food instead of canned.
I live in Germany, and the situation is bad here, but I can imagine in the US it’s even more difficult to eat healthy.
I also read a book that explained how even our cars have been designed to eat fast food. With the cup holders, most fast food can be eaten quickly and with one hand(even when you’re driving), and combined with the drive-thru.
You don’t even need to get out of your car nowadays to access food.
Precisely, on all fronts. And it’s much worse in the US than it is in Europe on the whole. While I’m sure there’s pretty active propaganda for bad food there (certainly was when I was there), the promotion of “healthy” food here that’s just sugar packaged differently is terrifying. I’m sure depending on where you are in Germany you have to go out of your way to find good natural food. I actually live in an area that has tons of farmers markets, but that’s absolutely not the norm for most of the country.
Keep people dumb, fat and scared and you’ll be able to control them.
But man. Food in North America is bad. Food is America is a new level of bad. Go to Asia or other places in the world and you can eat the same amount and still lose weight. Ingredients used is so unhealthy and full of preservatives.
Social media. News. Don’t even get me started haha.
Thank you for reading! I absolutely know I’m going to split this article into smaller parts and make a series out of it. Food in North America can barely be called food at this point. As I slowly make mg way towards healthier choices, I start to notice just how much crap is in the food they even present as healthy over here.
Social media was the longest section for a reason haha. I may do multiple articles on it.
LOL that is actually true. It's the same that goes into a lot of the products we use. Like shampoos and shit. So many brands, all owned by liek a few big companies that don't care us lol.
It could be history and just entities in general. The possibilities are endless.
When I am financially able I am absolutely going to be more discerning. Right now I just don’t have the means to do some in depth research too much. However, we can all make good decisions with food with just a little research!
Great read, Preston! it's actually insane if you think about that big corporates simply want to make you addicted to their products - not matter the outcome, as long we all consume. what a world we live in.. I like your counter ideas on how to avoid that. great article!
The counter ideas were a spur of the moment thing. I am glad I wrote them though. Otherwise, the article would have just been terribly depressing 😂
Yeah, once we realize what the “game” is it can be quite a downer. I didn’t touch on many other areas I see this as the article was already 4000 plus words. But, I think moving forward writing on this subject I’ll break it down section by section. This seemed like a good way to kick things off though.
I’ll likely break it out into sections and republish down the road because I do think I’m going to do a series on this. The subject matter, while slightly depressing, is an important one and easier to deal with when we know what’s going on.

Thanks again for bearing with my lengthy piece!
Agreed, and thank you for checking out my work as well!
Absolutely! I look forward to continue to do so.
Very interesting part on the food Preston!

It’s crazy…

Well written! I do love that it's split into portions. Makes it easier to read too. You should def do full length articles on each one.
Red dye 40 ahahaha. Why y'all putting that in your body?? That's just one thing too. The bad ingredient list goes on and on.
Im definitely going to do a series on evil vs. good rulers. It’s a great subject even if it’s depressing 😂
And seriously. If I can’t pronounce something in my food or it sounds more like a science experiment…what are we really doing here???
That actually would be cool! I love history.

Cover Ghengis-Khan haha.
Totally understandable.

I liked it, but I agree - section by section might make sense and it's easier for people to read through it thoroughly :)
