The Health Chronicles: Walks and Sunshine
Two Free Things That Always Make Me Feel Good
It’s finally starting to (barely) warm up around here and the sun is shining bright as all get out today!
Something I know for myself is this. I am always a much happier person when I can spend more time outside, and when I get in real nature walks during my week. With the weather slightly warming up today, I even took the liberty of walking home from the grocery store instead of hanging out in another store to wait for the bus. It’s not a short walk, at least not for some people. Probably 2 miles or so, with some not so insignificant hills involved.
But I felt so good after my walk.
I didn’t have that many groceries (thanks to my mom loading me down with food on Friday), so my grocery haul was relatively light. Couple that with a balmy 40 degrees and unfiltered shining sun, and I was off to the races. With a good playlist and wonderful scenery, I feel like I could walk for hours. In fact, I will probably go on another one today, likely while this post is published.
When weather permits, and I have the time to do so, I always try to spend my time outside. I’ll always have my windows open. The more sunlight we get, the better we feel. Yes, even my more pale fellow humans, you too need that good sunlight. Plus, the best part? Sun, fresh air, and walking are free!
So, get out and go for a walk today, tomorrow, some time this week. Whether you do so with a playlist, podcast, or just listening to the sounds around you, enjoy how it feels to just be outside and moving. Spring is around the corner, and being outside as often as possible is definitely going to be a motivator for me. Anything is better than staring at our screen at this point, right?
Now, for some check ins.
Did I drink this week? No.
Did I have junk food? Yes, but not nearly as much as I have been having before.
Average Walk Distance: 4.7 miles per day. This is going to go up significantly with warmer weather. Yay!
Average Sleep Time: 6 hours, 23 minutes. I mean you can see from the data, I had terrible sleep last night haha. But, the drive to average 7 hours for the year is a marathon, not a sprint.
Screen Time: 6 hours, 51 minutes. As you’ll see, it was mostly spent talking to other people, and definitely not on social media. That said, would still like to shrink this.
Average Notifications: 560. I may stop tracking this, especially if they’re mostly individual messages. Gonna maybe focus more on where other notifications are coming from.
Average Pickups: 275. Almost all because of messaging. Again, I may stop tracking this because it is just talking to other people.
I’ll probably be launching my writing section on glimmers this week. If you also feel so inclined, feel free to read what I published earlier today about encountering a troll in real life. I think I handled it well, and now more than ever we need to protect our mental health from people who seek to harm it.
Have a wonderful week!
Thank you for reading Preston’s Eclectic Musings. Any support whether that be a like, share, comment, or subscription is always appreciated.
Or, if you’d like to send me some sustenance in the form of a healthy beverage, consider buying me a “coffee” (Tea!) instead!
Cheers to a balmy 40 degrees! I think we might hit 40 today, which will feel amazing after all the cold we've had!
