The Health Chronicles: Noticeable Brain Fog
How I can Easily Feel Sleep Differences
As I mentioned in my article published a couple days ago, I did not have my phone for a few days. There were a lot of things that were learned during that short time, but I think I can take a lot of them moving forward with positives. Chief among them was definitely this: the more I wean myself off of my phone, the better.
Something else that happened this week was that I got some pretty crap sleep. Usually in the morning when I wake up, I’ll check to see how my sleep was the night before. I did not bother to do so at all this week, and you’ll see why in the data below. But I did notice something pretty substantial as sleep was being difficult. I was acutely aware of it.
Brain Fog.
I think we all have different and pretty personal experiences when it comes to brain fog. But the overall feeling is that of sluggishness, unclear thoughts, inability to focus, lack of drive…you get the picture. Brain fog for me is all of those things, but also means I’m less productive. Frankly, it means I don’t write. So, in preparation for my 39-part series on college football teams this week, I was really pushing through. It seemed harder than it should have been.
And the sleep hasn’t gotten any better, yet.
I am still hopeful though. Sleep alludes me when I hit a bit of a mental challenge and that certainly has been the case these last couple of weeks. Now I’m focused on getting it back to where I was, which was close to 7 hours plus a night. That’s when I know I’m operating at an optimal level.
So, enough about sleep. Let's look at how the rest of the week went.
Did I drink this week? No.
Did I have junk food? Yes. Side effect of not getting great sleep, not the best motivation to cook the healthiest things.
Average Walking Distance: 4.3 Miles. We all know I want this to be better. Plain and simple.
Sleep Average: 5 Hours, 49 Minutes. Goodness me…I actually thought it would be worse. But look at how erratic it was in general.
Screen Time Average: 6 Hours, 39 Minutes. You can see which days were outliers. Gonna try my best to really reel those in.
Average Notifications: 499. College football scores by far and away take the cake here. I’m fine with that. Soccer scores are second. I talked about pulling back other notifications, so sports scores are not going to make me mad.
I think we’ll get back to morning meditation this week. I feel like my mornings have become more cramped as of late, but meditation is really good for me. Maybe I’ll try some in the evening as well. A lot of changes are still happening and despite setbacks, still all moving in a generally positive direction. Have a great week!

I don't think I have experienced brain fog except when watching or listening to the MSM or TV ads or any politician.
